Sheilah Wallin

Sheilah Wallin was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. She received her BFA from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and her MFA from the  Hoffberger School of Painting, Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, MD. She has also studied at the Art Students League of New York. She has been included in numerous studio shows including at 401 Richmond St. West Toronto, Mc’Cormick Studios, Miami and the Green Garage, Toronto. She won second prize in theJohn B. Aird Gallery Annual Juried Drawing Exhibition. She sells primarily by commission from her studio in downtown Toronto.

About the Work

For many years my primary focus has been on large charcoal life drawings and portraits, long meditations and observations on the turn of form and the play of light. In my newer work I have changed my practice to exploring form and colour with collage and paint. I am excited by finding ambiguity in familiar forms from the figure, adding abstraction and shifting planes, creating transformations, offerings of a temporal experience,
